Greene County district court, week ending Feb. 10

In Greene County district court Kinfer Esefan, 44, of St Joseph, MO, was sentenced to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Esefan was fined $1,250 with a $1875.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. He must pay an amount not to exceed $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Avery Dawn Madison, 23, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. She was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. She must pay a civil penalty of $430 and restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $600. A case in magistrate court in which Madison was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Court costs were $60. (Sentencing: McCarville)

A charge of possession of marijuana against Kaylin Aaliyah Small, 21, of Jefferson was dismissed with $100 court costs. Small was granted a deferred judgment in a magistrate case in which she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. In that case she must pay a $105 civil penalty, restitution not to exceed $300 for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $60 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

A charge of possession of marijuana against Jude Garrett McIntire Reynolds, 20, of Jefferson was dismissed; he was assessed $100 court costs. He pleaded guilty in magistrate court to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. Court costs were $60. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Benjamin Kenneth Johnston, 18, of Churdan pleaded guilty to charges of theft- second degree and supply alcohol to person under legal age- serious injury. Trial date was set for April 4.

Information is available since the return of arrest warrants that Heather Marie Gulbranson, 41, of Manson is charged with driving while license barred; and that John Clayton Cook, 55, of Fort Dodge is charged with fraudulent practice- second degree and gambling- avoid set off.

Cases were initiated during the week ending Feb. 10 as follows: Dawn Maria Miller, 48, of Lanesboro, gambling- avoid set off and fraudulent practice- third degree; Adam Eugene Coy, 31, of Grand Junction, attempted murder, domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury, and willful injury causing serious injury; Richard Braden Daugherty, 18, of Paton, possession of marijuana; Amelia Marie Burnie, 38, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine; Roger Allen Burnie Jr, 36, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine; and Jessica Nicole Baxter, 36, of Carroll, gambling- avoid set off and fraudulent practice- third degree.
